Helping young readers build confidence from the first book.
I serve as Vice President of Operations at SuperBooks, an award-winning phonics-based reading program built to help children develop the foundational skills that make reading click.
SuperBooks has been teaching children to read with phonics for more than 50 years. Its decodable readers are intentionally paced so early readers can build phonemic awareness, recognize letter sounds, develop fluency and strengthen reading comprehension as skills progress.
The program serves Kindergarten through Grade 3 with 80 titles across its two primary kits, combining familiar life events, adventure, fantasy and humor with a structured progression of reading skills.
Decodable by Design
Stories reinforce phonics skills while helping children practice decoding, fluency and comprehension in an approachable format.
Structured Skill Progression
The curriculum develops letter recognition, letter sounds, phonemic awareness, phonics, word patterns, sight words and reading comprehension.

Garrett Nelson
A Seattle-area sales and business professional working across logistics technology and real estate, with a parallel studio practice centered on ceramics and functional art. This site brings those disciplines together without blurring the professional relationships behind each one.
Life outside work
Usually outside, moving or making something.
Away from work, I gravitate toward the water, mountains, motorcycles, music and making things with my hands. I like pursuits that reward practice, curiosity and a little adventure.
On the water
Slalom water skiing, foiling behind the boat, riding ocean waves and wing foiling in Hood River are some of my favorite ways to spend time on the water. I also enjoy spearfishing and exploring below the surface.
Two wheels & mountains
On pavement, I ride a Ducati Hypermotard 950 SP. When the road ends, I switch to a Honda 450X for the dirt. In winter, I trade two wheels for a snowboard and head for the mountains.
Music & making
I play guitar, sing and enjoy creating things,whether that means music, ceramics, art or building something useful from an idea.
Cooking
I love cooking, especially the simple, hands-on kind: a cast-iron skillet, a Blackstone griddle, good ingredients and sharing a meal with old and new friends.
